About the Foundation

The NMA Scholarship Foundation continues to encourage undergraduate students to pursue a curriculum leading to a degree in Animal Sciences, Meat Sciences and Food Sciences.

Since the NMA Scholarship Foundation inception 3 years ago, the foundation has granted a total of $19,000 ($5000 in 1995, $6500 in 1996, and $7500 in 1997) to exceptional undergraduate students. The Foundation awards scholarships based on academic achievement. The rising cost of college tuition makes these scholarships necessary for an ever increasing number of college students. This year (1997), more than 18 qualified applicants applied for six scholarships. The number of scholarship applications is expected to double by the year 2000.

The goals of the Foundation are to raise $1 million in order to create a self-perpetuating endowment that will fund scholarships well into the 21st Century. The earnings from this money should provide more than 25 annual scholarships to Animal, Meat or Food Sciences undergraduate students.

The students of today will be the Meat Scientists and Industry Leaders of tomorrow.
